As we know children are a gift from God. But what if we feel we aren’t ready to have a baby? Or what if we feel as though we aren’t equipped to be a mother, or we believe our circumstances aren’t the best? Or what if we feel like we just can’t handle the responsibilities of another child?
Well I’m here to remind you that God’s timing is PERFECT. See we often look at our circumstances instead of looking to God. If God allowed us to become pregnant despite what our circumstances look like, it was in his plans and he has already equipped us with everything we need to carry out the task of being a parent to our child.
On January 13, 2012, I found out I was pregnant with my second child. Now for me the timing was crazy. I just had my 1st son in 2011, I was literally just planning his first birthday party which was scheduled in February. I just started adjusting to having my first child, and the difficulties of managing work, being a mother, wife, as well as the emotional rollercoaster that comes with it. I questioned God, are you sure Lord I can handle another baby right now? I couldn’t believe I was pregnant again 11 months later. I was really in denial. I had the Mirena which is a IUD so I was really shocked that I still became pregnant. I went to the emergency to have the IUD removed, the people in the hospital was shocked as well they thought the IUD had fallen out or had been moved out of place. But they saw that the IUD was still in place and I was pregnant. They told me my chances were 1 in 1,000 and how the Mirena was 99.9% accurate. Well as you can see not in my case. They also told me I was at high risk for miscarriage due to me becoming pregnant on the IUD. But I believed my baby would be fine, I knew at that moment that God wanted me to have this baby, and it was all apart of his plan. I had to realize that nothing can get in the way of God’s plan.
Regardless of me thinking the timing was too soon, or it just wasn’t the right time, God knew what he was doing. So I had to trust him and his timing. I went through so many emotions and trying to wrap my mind around me having another baby so soon, and how will I be able to do it, but again I was reminded that God is in control, he never puts more on you than you can bare. And thats where faith comes in, not looking at what’s in front of you but believing that God has you and knows what’s best for you. TRUST HIM.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
Once I started embracing the idea of having another child and that God was in control. I found out I was having a boy. My husband and I decided on Amari Ayden Dingle. I remember my brother in-law called and asking us the meaning of Amari. At the time we didn’t looking into the meaning of the names. So later, he called us back telling us that Amari meant “Promised By God”, that was definitely confirmation that Amari was going to be his name. It was fitting given our circumstances, Amari was meant to be here, he was a “Promise By God.”
Even though I thought the timing was too soon because I had just had a baby, God timing was perfect. Amari has been such a blessing to our family, he truly is a precious gift from God. He has completed our family. Amari and Aj are the best of friends and they look out for one another. Something I often admire. God definitely knew what he was doing by giving them each other, and so close in age, they are able to play and grow up together. We try to teach them to look out for one another and how having a brother is a blessing. I am so grateful to celebrate Amari’s birthday as he turned 6 on September 2nd.
Wow as I look back 6 years later and how I didn’t think I was equipped to raise two kids so close in age. I thought I needed more time or it would be too much to manage. I had so many fears and doubts and just a emotional wreck. I am blessed to say 6 years later that God knows what he is doing, His plans and timing for us is PERFECT.
Children are God’s perfect gift , and his timing is always on time. He will make a way out of no way. He is a provider and he will always give us what we need. We don’t have to worry about how things will work out, just remember to Trust God’s Perfect Plan. God has plans for our kids and he has blessed us to be their parents, so continue to look to him for guidance to teach us how to be the parents he chose us to be for our children.
